This post features my latest image that I shot this morning, and showcases the 1893 folk art clock, created by the gentleman shown above. He was Peter Kurtz, a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. His highly detailed and intricate folk art clock was made in 1893 and his obituary listed him as being of “a quiet, modest and retiring disposition”. He was born in 1832 and was the last of nine children. I lit this shot primarily with small flashlights to bring out the intricate detail in this amazing piece from the past.

Very Nice ! Real nice job lighting this image.
thanks
Nice work Don. Love the window element and the personal info on the artist is a nice touch. Congrats on your launch!
I struggled with what to do with numerous lights in the shot. I attempted to keep the clock predominant enough to keep your eye on it, and the lights all looked better lit in my opinion, so thats the direction I took with this image. thanks
Hi Donald.
Thanks for the note. It will be nice to keep up with your work now.
I’m no expert on lighting, but this seems extremely well done to me. All the illumination appears natural with the clock very much highlighted and the obvious subject. Having the background lights lit seems a good idea as otherwise that corner should be dark so their being lit now makes visual sense.
Additionally, that is a gorgeous clock!
Good hearing from you again. Glad you took time to look.
