Washed Up

beached-boat

For the past year or so I have posted new images each day and want to thank the more than three hundred followers that have been kind enough to join my photo blog in that time. To be honest, I have come to the realization that I am spending too much time taking photos and trying to keep my blog current, so things will be more sporadic from this point. The fact that I have close to 62,000 views in a year is great, but I am getting the feeling that it really does not mean a hill of beans to anyone what I do here,so consequently I will be doing random photo posts as opportunities arise.Right now life in general seems to be closing in on me,so simplifying things is my goal. The old washed up boat pretty much reflects how I feel right now. Maybe I will heed my daughter’s request and start taking my Happy Pills that have been sitting unused in the medicine cabinet for the last year. Catch you all later

  1. I so enjoy seeing your photos every day and will miss them. Take care of yourself. Looking forward to seeing your “spordic” shots.

  2. Don—–Take a break—–catch your breath—–and come back !!! Your work means more than “a hill of beans” to me and many others. Your photography is fabulous and your blogs are always interesting. I really hope your future posts are not spaced too far apart. Thanks for your work and your energy.

  3. It’s very easy to experience burnout from posting every day. That said, you’ve been producing some stellar work and I’ll miss the daily visits. Good to take a break … just don’t give it up altogether.

  4. I always enjoy your posts and your photography is an inspiration for me to push myself a little and see if I can’t make better pictures. I will continue to look forward to seeing your content and always wish you the best.

  5. Enjoy looking at you beautiful photos each day, and will miss them, but know that simplifying our lives is a good thing too. Take care…….

  6. Donald,
I can sure empathize about the stress of trying to post daily! I hope that you feel like it has pushed you to stretch your creativeness over the last year or so, and perhaps taking photos has even helped to make you happy some days. Some of your stories about finding the perfect framing farm for a spectacular sunset or awaiting a buggy to trot into a scene or asking permission to set up and shoot a wonderful old house or amazing old machine – especially light painting those – well, they have been wonderful and inspiring to read. And surely you have gained some pleasure and satisfaction from them – at least I hope you have! To me, it seems that if you can get yourself out to work on something creative, it usually beats happy pills. But maybe you do need a change now, to release yourself from the obligation to post daily. Please don’t totally abandon your blog or your photography. I “followed” your blog because your images and your stories move me. I hope some of it seems worth having done. Thank you for sharing so much of your work and your life.
    ~Kyle
