I headed out to a local cemetery to try some light painting this past weekend and once again temperatures in the single digits tested my dedication to the craft. The sunset was nice and the colorful sky in this image is part light from sunset and the city nearby, which gave a neat effect. I used my nitecor flashlight to illuminate the chapel, trees, snow and tombstones. I always am on my toes when I am alone in places like this because I have seen homeless sleeping here, but not with the temperatures we have right now. I was also worried the gate might be closed when I went to leave but thankfully that was not the case.

Cool Shot.
Thanks, people are just dying to get in to see the place.
Fantastic light and mood… great composition 🙂
Thanks, snow makes it tricky because you cant just walk anywhere to light things or you ruin the snow. You must think ahead
yeah, and you have done that tricky task very cleverly…
Never know till i get home if i forgot to light something, but i usually do twice as many shots as i need.
same here… In fact I do 3/4 shot If I don’t get satisfied… But, When I’m on street, I don’t get any 2nd chance, That’s really a challenging…
I can imagine, but you seem to have it under control.
lol, not really, Still I missed so many interesting decisive moments on street and learn from those failure 😛
actually you can’t finished learning from the moment. the more you get close to the moment the more you get the perfect shot… and that “getting close” things are infinity…
Well keep at it.
Lovely – almost looks like a gingerbread house.
You are right.I think they just store caskets in there.
Very interesting shot!
(and you managed to avoid fence climbing exploits too!)
Yes indeed.I went at sunrise the following morning and the main gate was locked, but a side gate was open thankfully.
How many individual photos did you take for this?
I would guess around ten. often I need to try several shots on each element till I get the light even or the exposure were it needs to be.pretty easy technique as long as your tripod is steady.
